Former AM Fails To Step Into Mother's Shoes

Tamsin failed to win the seat her mother had held for Labour for 34 years. Former Preseli-Pembrokeshire AM, Tamsin Dunwoody, failed to follow in her mother's footsteps last night (Thursday), as the Conservatives took the parliamentary seat for Crewe and Nantwich by a clear majority.

Mrs Dunwoody's mother, Gwyneth, had held the Labour stronghold seat since 1974. In the last general election she won the seat by a majority of 7000.

Labour put forward her daughter, Tamsin Dunwoody who held assembly seat for Preseli Pembrokeshire until last year, as their candidate in yesterday's by election.

However in a landslide majority Tory candidate Edward Timpson took the seat in a 17.6 swing towards the Conservatives.

Speaking after her defeat Ms Dunwoody said that the Labour vote "held up" and attributed her defeat to a larger rural turnout than usual.

Although I'm a lifelong Labour voter it must be said that Ms Dunwoody is an embarrassment to the Labour party.

Her recent appearance on Jeremy Paxman's program proved that she was well out of her depth and lacked any sort of communication skills.

I'm afraid that her jumping around the country, seemingly in desperation to win ANY type of political seat, smacks of a desperate attempt to get aboard the gravy train no matter which carriage you are forced to sit in.

Just get onboard, sit back and relax and start reaping the benefits.Obviously no such thing as a sympathy vote in the North of England.Edward Timpson......he DOES look and sound like your archetypal TOFF though doesn't he? He's got the sort of face you just want to smack.
